Description

Intense nose with impressions of rum, spices, blueberry, and cherry, a nice balance between sweet and roasted notes; powerful but perfectly ripe and soft tannins in the mouth and a very long finish
Aging: No pressing, only the free-run juice is used for aging for 22 months in French oak barrels (half of which are new). No filtration before bottling takes place. The wine is released to the market approximately two years after harvest.
Vinification: Gigama is produced only in the best wine years, from grapes hand-selected. After destemming, fermentation with the skins occurs with a selection of indigenous yeasts for 10 to 14 days, with an additional maceration at low temperature for about 4 weeks.

Serve with:
Great wine for great dishes, filet mignon, rack of lamb, or truffle cuisine. Serve at 16°C-18°C.

Cellaring:
This wine is already delicious now but can be cellared for another ten years easily. The wine will continue to evolve, so it's recommended to let it age!

Additional Information:
For the past 25 years, the Leth family has been practicing environmentally responsible viticulture by not using herbicides and minimizing chemical plant protection. Thanks to the specific Löss soil, irrigation is not necessary, grass cover keeps the soil healthy, and fertilization is unnecessary. Harvesting is entirely manual with strict sorting; only the best grapes are used for the top wines.
The wine ages for 2.5 years in the bottle before being released to market.
The Sankt Laurent grape is planted here in a special place called 'Kogel' on the first ascending slopes of the Wagram hills.

Recognition:

This wine producer chooses not to participate in many wine competitions. However, it's worth mentioning that Weingut Leth is cited in Hugh Johnson's Wine Guide and Larousse Wine Encyclopedia as one of the better producers in the region.
