Description

A stunning Riesling straight from Wagram, Austria by the top winery Leth. A beautiful golden yellow wine with a green hue. On the nose, ripe stone fruit like peaches, along with hints of herbs, spices, and minerality. In short, a brilliant aromatic palette. On the palate, this is a soft and sensual wine with ripe fruitiness. You get a beautifully complex whole that is sure to delight. The finish is very long with a touch of honey. Among the best of Wagram, but at a more modest price.
3.9/5 Vivino

Food pairing:
Bring out your best asparagus and prepare them preferably à la Flamande. Also excellent as an aperitif, with refined chicken dishes, shellfish, or veal tenderloin.
Serve at 12°C and let it slowly warm up to unlock its full potential.

Cellaring:
This wine is already delicious now, but it can also be aged for about 10 years.

Additional information:
For 25 years, the Leth family has practiced environmentally responsible viticulture by avoiding herbicides and minimizing the use of chemical treatments. Thanks to the unique loess soil, irrigation is unnecessary; grass cover keeps the soil healthy and eliminates the need for fertilization. Harvesting is done exclusively by hand with strict grape selection – only the best grapes are used for their premium wines.

Only healthy grapes are used, harvested very late (without Botrytis), typically in the first or second week of November. After destemming and skin contact (maceration) for about 6–8 hours, pressing is done using a pneumatic press. The juice then rests for about 12 hours; only the clear juice is used for fermentation, which is carried out with natural yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Maturation on the lees in stainless steel tanks helps to preserve the fruity character and freshness, contributing to its wonderful complexity.

Recognition:

This wine producer prefers not to participate in numerous wine competitions. However, it is worth noting that Weingut Leth is mentioned in both “Hugh Johnson’s Wine Guide” and the “Larousse Wine Encyclopedia” as one of the top producers of the region.
