Vivino 3.7/5
Serving suggestions:
Perfect wine for shellfish and crustaceans (lobster, langoustines, etc.). Cold fish dishes and grilled fish. Also pairs well with soft cheeses and raclette.
In addition, it complements veal and turkey wonderfully.
Personally, I love enjoying this on a summer evening with some sushi.
Storage:
Best enjoyed young — this is when it shows its full potential as a perfect terrace wine, refreshing aperitif, or companion to summer salads, cold fish dishes, and a variety of starters.
Additional information:
For over 25 years, the Leth family has practiced environmentally friendly viticulture — no herbicides are used, and chemical treatments are kept to a minimum. Thanks to the unique loess soil, irrigation is not necessary. Natural grass cover keeps the soil healthy and makes fertilization redundant. Harvesting is done exclusively by hand with strict selection: only the best grapes are used for premium wines.
This large vineyard allows for rigorous grape selection, meaning only the ripest and healthiest grapes are used. The wine is aged for 1 year in wooden barrels.
It is classified as a "1st Lage", which is comparable to a French Grand Cru. This is one of the top wines of the estate, and Grüner Veltliner is Austria’s pride.
The hand-harvested grapes are destemmed in the vineyard and gently pressed after a 3 to 5 hour skin contact. The juice is clarified overnight and then fermented with selected yeasts under temperature control. To emphasize freshness and varietal aroma, the wine is bottled as early as January or February.
The grapes for this wine come from carefully selected plots in Austria’s Wagram region. The vineyards are located on terraces between 200 and 300 meters above sea level. Deep loess soils ensure excellent water management and a mineral backbone in the wine. Along the edge of the Wagram, conglomerate gravel soils provide a strong and permeable foundation that adds to the wine's freshness and vibrancy. This diverse terroir lends the wine its expressive aromas, lively acidity, and distinct varietal character.
