Description

A bright cherry-red wine, a typical example of how a smooth Bordeaux quality wine should be. You smell very pure aromas of ripe cherries, soft summer flowers, red currants, and a wood aging. In the mouth, the wine is silky smooth with an elegant round texture, smoky soft tannins, and a very long finish. In short, a powerful full-bodied wine for lovers of classic wines.

Serve with:
This wine pairs perfectly with a lamb dish or any other dish with red meat. Open this wine a few hours before serving. Decanting/carafing this wine is recommended! Serve at 15-18°C.

Storage:
Storage potential of 8-10 years with certainty, some keep it for 20 years in a good wine cellar. The wine will further evolve and become even rounder and softer without losing its powerful taste.

Extra Information:

The vineyards have an average age of 36 years and stretch around the castle, on a warm soil predominantly composed of gravel, where the Cabernet Sauvignon expresses its finesse and delicacy. The cultivation and vinification have remained traditional, with low yields depending on the vintage. Fermentation and maceration take place in concrete tanks at controlled temperature. The excellent location of the vineyard in the Isle valley provides a very fine, characterful wine year after year.
As early as the 12th century, the Knights of Saint Jacob of Jerusalem provided accommodation for pilgrims on their way to Saint Jacob of Compostella and protected them from attacks by robbers. The name Commanderie comes from the order of knights established in Pomerol and Lalande-de-Pomerol who founded hospitals and houses for the protection of pilgrims.
Until 2019, Château de la Commanderie was owned by the Meffre family. Gabriel Meffre bought this house in 1956 and Claude has been at the helm since 1996, but recently, in 2019, it was bought by Karine de Colbert.
The estate covers an area of 39 hectares, of which 29 hectares are planted with vines, and the vineyard surrounds the property.
The entire vineyard consists of two types of soil: the upper part is sandy gravel soil on variegated clay, and the middle and lower parts are sandy gravel soil on deep clay.
The 29.6 hectares are composed as follows: 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon; the average age of the vineyard is 36 years.
The soil is fully worked, and every other row is provided with grass. The property has chosen to move towards HVE3 certification and an organic orientation.

Packaged in a cardboard box of 12 bottles.

Made from Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot.
