Weinrieder's expression of Riesling is naturally fruit-driven and aromatic, as Riesling should be, but it also offers an incredibly pleasant mineral expression, with elegance, purity, and delicate acidity. It is rich and full-bodied on the palate, with an abundance of ripe fruit flavors of honey-sweet baked apple and hints of tropical fruit. A background of subtle spices, as well as traces of nuts and tobacco, add extra depth and complexity to the profile. All this richness is perfectly offset by a refreshing and pleasant minerality, which gives the cuvée a good direction and balance. The finish is long and juicy with a subtle and seductive spiciness.
Weinrieder Kugler Riesling 2020 on Vivino
This Austrian white wine is best enjoyed chilled at 8 - 10°C. The wine pairs perfectly with a wide range of fish dishes, lobster and seafood, but also with fried dishes or poultry dishes. Additionally, it pairs very well with Asian cuisine.
Storage:
The wine has been aged on the lees for a long time before bottling, and therefore has a nice full character and good shelf life. (+10 years)
Additional Information:
The balanced Ried Kugler Riesling from Austria is a single-varietal wine, vinified vegan from the Riesling grape variety. In Lower Austria, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of sand, chalk, and loess. After the grape harvest, the grapes are immediately brought to the winery. Here they are sorted and gently crushed. Fermentation follows in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. After the end of fermentation, the Ried Kugler Riesling can still harmonize on the fine lees for 9 months.Vinification: strict manual selection in the vineyard, careful destemming; the grapes were gently pressed and then fermented in cooled stainless steel tanks to preserve the pure fruit character. Longer lees contact to give the wine more complexity and aging potential.
