On the nose, very aromatic with plenty of plums and blackcurrants. In addition to coffee notes, balsamic, and subtle woody tones. Every 2 years, new aromas emerge! On the palate, ripe and very juicy cherry fruit. Deliciously pure with overwhelming freshness. Also, plenty of chocolate. Then again, that huge freshness on the palate, which makes the port elegant with a high drinkability factor. In between, a lot of concentration and also beautiful fervor. Tremendous potential.
PS: What is a vintage port? The term Vintage Port is often used, but what does it mean exactly? Vintage Port is produced in exceptional years and from the best grapes of the vineyard. Therefore, this Port is often very tasty but also often much more expensive than other types of port.
The biggest difference between an LBV and a Vintage Port lies in the aging time. They both come from a single harvest year, but a Late Bottled Vintage Port (usually abbreviated as LBV) matures longer (4 to 6 years) in cask than a Vintage Port. LBV is an official and controlled indication. The harvest year and bottling year must be mentioned on the label. While Vintage Ports often mature for decades in the bottle before reaching their full potential, LBVs are designed to be consumed younger. They have the rich and fruity character of a Vintage Port but are more accessible for consumption.
Serve with:
This port will pair very well with strong cheeses such as Roquefort, blue cheeses & Portuguese Serra, for example.
Of course, it also goes excellently with fruit or chocolate desserts. My choice = a good thick cigar.
Serve at 17°C.
Storage:
Store this port horizontally in the dark. This port will continue to evolve in taste. Therefore, there will certainly be some sediment in the bottle. So, in company, decant this port. Consume within 2 days after opening.

Located in Pinhão, on the right bank of the Douro River, the estate is almost entirely surrounded by the beauty of the river. With rare natural beauty and an exceptional location, it is exposed to the south at an altitude of about 250 meters, key factors for obtaining perfect grape ripening.
The Quinta has 60 hectares of vineyards, where we can find the noblest grape varieties of the Douro region, mainly Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Sousão, Tinto Cão, as well as Tinta Barroca in smaller quantities but equally important, the result of a restructuring plan implemented on the Quinta. However, the Quinta still has some vineyard plots, known as "Vinhas Velhas" (old vines), which are over 100 years old.
All grapes from this Quinta have been classified as "A" since 1932 by the regulatory authority at the time, Casa do Douro, due to their quality potential.
The vineyards of Quinta da Vista Alegre are part of the magnificent landscape of the Douro River, whose images are illustrated in specialized publications that celebrate the beauty of the Douro River with its valleys covered with continuous rows of vines. We believe that the origin of the name of the Quinta (beautiful view) is directly related to the magnificent and enchanting view from all points.
