Additional Information:
The oldest port house in the world:
A journey in 1636 between Hamburg and Portugal marks the beginning of a long history: Nicolau Kopkë establishes himself in Portugal as Consul General of the Hanseatic League.

Where time is characterized by exceptional moments, Kopke's history is written in exceptional years.
Years that are worth preserving, so they can be relived and celebrated at any time. When we take years from Kopke's history, we create more history: the age on the label of this Kopke Port wine is the average age of all wines in the blend.

The grapes are handpicked at the optimal moment, then destemmed, crushed, and transformed into wine through a process of careful maceration to extract their color, tannins, and aromas, enhanced by constant churning during fermentation. This happens in vats (lagares) at a controlled temperature (between 28-30°C) until the right degree of sweetness (baumé) is reached. At this point, grape brandy is added to create the final fortified wine. A high-quality wine, made by blending wines from different harvests to achieve the sensory qualities typical of these old tawny port wines. These wines have each aged for different periods in oak barrels, with the average age of all wines in the blend determining the age on the label. The resulting blend expresses the characteristics developed through aging in wood.
