Description

Delicious sparkling wine from Hungary, made like a Prosecco. This sparkling wine is light in color with many persistent bubbles. In the nose, lots of white fruit such as peach and ripe yellow apples. No green apples like in a Cava, but yellow apples. In the mouth, the onset is very fruity, making it appear slightly sweet. However, it only has 6.9 g of sugar per liter. It has a surprising long finish.

Serving:
Serve between 5-6° Celsius. Highly recommended for receptions as it will be appreciated by a very broad audience, both by those who like a brut and those who prefer it sweeter. Also delicious with poultry dishes with a mild sauce. Often used to make a Mimosa.

BStorage:
This sparkling wine is not made to be stored.

When purchasing this wine, you will receive the complete tasting sheet.

Joseph Törley registered his company on August 1, 1882, with the registration court of Budapest under the name "József Törley és Társa" /Joseph Törley and Co./. The history of Törley's sparkling wines dates back almost a century and a half.

Open to innovations, Törley continuously developed his factory and the technology for sparkling wine production. For example, he was the first in Hungary to introduce the disgorging process. Thanks to this, his factory became the most modern sparkling wine factory in the country around the turn of the century. In the following decades, Törley's reputation and taste became known from America to Australia, and the factory had stocks in Hamburg, Berlin, and Copenhagen. And the greatest recognition was that Törley sparkling wine was also drunk in Paris at that time.

After the founder's death, the factory continued to flourish, even under the leadership of the heirs, and by 1910, it had reached a production level of two million bottles per year. After the Trianon Peace Treaty, sales decreased significantly and reached their lowest point during the Great Depression. In the 1930s, demand for sparkling wine grew again, but success was ultimately broken by World War II, followed by a period of difficulties and then a rebirth.

After the war, until nationalization in 1950, the factory had tried to survive and had only four employees. Production resumed in 1951, and Törley became the only sparkling wine factory in the country under the supervision of the Unicum Liqueur Factory.

The history of Törley can also be considered very eventful from the perspective of the company's structure. The company first merged in 1960 with Hungary and then in 1973 with Hungarovin. The company was further expanded as Hungarovin restarted the operation of the François winery in 1982, acquired the György-Villa building in 1986, and obtained 99% ownership in BB in 1995. Including the Törley brand, these brands belonged to the Henkell & Söhnlein Hungary Group between 1997 and 2004.

Törley Holding was established in 2005 and then merged with Szent István Korona, which emerged from the transformation of Hungarovin and György-Villa, first acquiring Walton in 2010 and then François winery in 2013. Finally, in 2014, Hungaria also merged with Törley, which still maintains its leading market position in Hungary.
