Description

A beautiful deep red wine awaits you. The main aromas are blackcurrants such as cassis, along with black pepper, chocolate, vanilla, and violets. On the palate, very fine ripe tannins give the fullness and persistence of a great Cabernet wine. The finish is nicely rounded with lingering notes of vanilla and tobacco. A brilliant wine made from Cabernet Sauvignon and a touch of Carménère.
3.8/5 Vivino

Additional information:
Viña San Esteban was founded by José Vincent and his son Horacio, who learned the trade in Bordeaux, including at Château Mouton Rothschild and Mouton Cadet.

In Situ Reserva Chardonnay is produced with grapes from vineyards on the banks of the Aconcagua River. These offer a sandy, well-drained soil with low fertility. The altitude of 800 meters allows for gradual ripening, while the cold glacier water of the river provides cooling during the hot summer months, ensuring elegance and complexity in this Chardonnay from the Aconcagua Valley.

Viña San Esteban, founded in 1974 by José Vincente, is considered a pioneer in hillside vineyard cultivation. His son Horacio, a Bordeaux-trained winemaker who assisted at Château Mouton Rothschild and Mouton Cadet, helped boost the quality. Today, they own 120 hectares of vineyard along the Aconcagua River and over the foothills of the Andes Mountains.
In Situ Reserva is a limited production from the best vines on the Paidahuen hill of the San Esteban vineyard. A specific terroir where the interaction between soil, climate, and grape gives each wine a unique identity. For hundreds of years, the slopes of this hill (1,150 m) have been a meeting place for indigenous people of the Aconcagua Valley. Today, the ethnic rock paintings of the archaeological site atop the vineyards bear witness to this history.
Hence the name In Situ, and also the symbolism on the bottle.

Vinification of this wine: Hand-harvested grapes are fermented at 28°C in stainless steel tanks, followed by 20 days of maceration to develop fullness and structure. Then, it is aged for 12 months in 225-liter French (70%) and American (30%) oak barrels to refine the texture of the tannins. After bottling, the wine rests for an additional 3 months in bottle.
