Description

The Saronsberg Seismic Rooi is a dark red wine with aromas of cassis, red berries, and very seductive but measured notes of oak. Full of flavor with lots of ripe fruit, subtle spicy notes, and firm yet soft tannins. Despite its power, there is also elegance, and it is easily digestible. It has had a total of 20 months of aging (30% in new wood and 70% in second-year barrels). This is a blend of Cabernet sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet franc, Petit verdot, and Malbec.

Serve with:
This wine can beautifully complement various dishes but is very enjoyable on its own. If accompanying a meal, consider finely grilled red meats, game, or a hearty stew. A very refined wine to accompany your dishes.

Storage:
The wine is drinkable young but will certainly continue to age for several more years.

Additional Information:
Despite the modern character of our facilities and our progressive approach to winemaking, Saronsberg will always be inextricably linked to the history of the country and the valley of which it is a part.

Surrounded by mountains in the Upper Breede River Valley, Tulbagh is completely unique in its topography and natural beauty. It was this special characteristic that attracted the first settlers here over three hundred years ago, and the same quality led to Tulbagh being chosen as the location for the Saronsberg winery. Saronsberg recognizes the distinctive terroir and potential of the valley and has joined the mission initially led by Nicky Krone's cellar to prove the region's capacity for producing wines of excellent quality.

Grapes for this wine are handpicked early in the morning and cooled to 4 degrees. They are then sorted, destemmed, and gently pressed.
