Description

Fantastic yellow color in your glass. On the nose, you will discover aromas of clarified butter, brioche (like Champagne), ripe yellow apples, honey, nuts (walnut and almond), and a slight spiciness. On the palate, this wine has a full-bodied start, creamy yet very elegant, with beautiful acidity and a final mineral touch. This wine is wonderfully complex, not a heavy full-bodied white wine, but an elegant wine with a wide range of aromas and flavors, simply delicious. The wine has a beautiful long finish.
4.4/5 on Vivino (no rating yet for 2022)

Serving:
Serve this wine at 13-14 degrees. Perfect with white meat (a French farm chicken), beautiful fish dishes (a lovely sole fillet or a piece of tuna), escargots, or scallops...

Storage:
The wine can be stored for 6-8 years, maybe longer, but taste one every now and then. If the acidity starts to disappear, it should be consumed.

Additional Information:

Maison GIRAUD Frères, Meursault en Côte-d'OrDomaine LATOUR-GIRAUD is located in Meursault, in the most popular region of Burgundy, known for the Great White Wines of the Côte de Beaune. It specializes in white wines, which account for 85% of the production.

The history of Domaine LATOUR-GIRAUD spans three centuries, dating back to the late 17th century. The earliest known ancestor is Jean Latour-Boillot, born around 1680. The vineyard was already the main source of income at that time. The continuous presence of the Latour family in the vineyard is evident during the French Revolution, represented by Jean Latour-Mouquin, born in 1748 and the grandson of Jean Latour-Boillot.

The Giraud family, long established in the Côte d'Or, had founded a distillery in the Meursault hospital around 1845. This distillery was active until 1914, producing Fine de Bourgogne, Marc de Bourgogne, and later the famous Cassis de Bourgogne. The union of the two families occurred in 1958 after the marriage of the children of the two families.

Today, the Domaine is managed by Jean-Pierre LATOUR, responsible for wine production, winemaking, aging, and marketing; he is assisted by his wife Christine, who takes care of the administrative tasks.

The vineyard of Domaine LATOUR-GIRAUD covers about ten hectares and exclusively produces Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée wines, with approximately 85% white wines and 15% red wines.

The majority of the white vines are located in the five 1er Cru appellations of Meursault: Les Genevrières, Les Charmes, Les Perrières, Les Bouchères, and Le Poruzot.

With 2.5 ha in Meursault Genevrières, Domaine LATOUR-GIRAUD is the largest owner of this magnificent 1er Cru. It also owns a 1er Cru plot on the northern edge of Puligny-Montrachet, with a Champs-Canet climate. This is complemented by plots in the Meursault appellation, such as Le Limozin, Les Narvaux, and Clos du Cromin.

The Domaine aimed to create its own vintage representative of the Meursault appellation by combining various terroirs like Les Vireuils, Les Pelles, Les Corbins, and Le Carrouge, and giving it the first names of its two grandfathers: Charles Giraud and Maxime Latour.

The Domaine also owns a plot located in the Burgundy appellation zone, where a Chardonnay is produced, characterized by the village of origin.

In red, the Domaine is much smaller but still very well-located as all the plots are classified as premier cru. The Domaine owns Pommard, Pommard Refène 1er Cru, Volnay Clos des Chênes 1er Cru, and Meursault Caillerets 1er Cru.
This particular wine has been aged for 12 months in oak barrels.
