Description

Sauvignon Blanc is a specialty of New Zealand. This wine bursts in the glass with a bright straw-yellow color. The bouquet of this wine from New Zealand's South Island impresses with aromas of gooseberry, acacia, and mango. As we follow these aromas further, we discover notes of walnut, minerals, lime, and cedar. On the palate, it is pleasantly dry, robust, and aromatic. In addition, this balanced white wine is characterized by an incredibly velvety and crisp texture. The long finish reveals delightful hints of mango, gooseberry, and mineral tones from the volcanic rock and gravel-dominated soil.

To be served with:
Perfect with a seafood platter, but also as a beautiful aperitif with an oyster or a small goat cheese. Also a great match with a delicious grilled trout or other river fish.

Storage:
This wine is already enjoyable but can also be stored for 5 years.

Specific extra info about this wine:
Grapes from our Waihopai, Awatere, and Wairau Valley estates were picked, crushed, and pressed with minimal skin contact. The juice was clarified and then fermented in stainless steel tanks with different yeast strains to build some texture and flavor complexity. A portion also underwent malolactic fermentation. After extensive tastings by the winemakers, this blend was assembled, lightly clarified, and bottled.

"The 2023 Sauvignon Blanc is a well-judged style with attractive fruit. It is nicely textured, almost chewy, with some decent substance through its bright, firm core. It has attractive flavors of gooseberry, elderflower, and passion fruit that combine well. Five months on lees rounds out its edges and also lends some flesh to the light-bodied palate." 91 Points -Rebecca Gibb MW, www.Vinous.com Apr 2024
"Designed principally for 'on-premise' consumption (in restaurants and bars), the 2023 vintage (*****) was tank-fermented, partly with indigenous yeasts. Bright lemon/green, it is mouthfilling and vibrantly fruity, with concentrated tropical fruit flavors, showing a distinct touch of complexity, and a crisp, dry (3.2 grams/litre of residual sugar), lingering finish." 5 STARS - Michael Cooper, Jul 2024
"A succulent hint of lanolin and beeswax complements the floral and citrus notes in this white, with touches of candied orange peel, lemon balm, and white grapefruit on an intense and mouthwatering frame." 92 POINTS - MaryAnn Worobiec, Wine Spectator, July 2024
