Deep ruby red wine with thick tears. On the nose, intense and complex aromas with sensual tones of violet flowers and rich notes of jammy ripe red fruits. On the palate, a sweetness with a slight bitterness for a beautiful balance.
For the production of this wine, the winemaker uses an old variety of wild cherry (Prunus cerasus) with a dark red color and slightly sour taste. The cherries are harvested in the first weeks of July and macerated with sugar, triggering a slow fermentation process that results in a sweet, fragrant syrup.
After a few days of decanting and filtering, the syrup is added to the wine, initiating a second fermentation that blends the two together. This fermentation is stopped at around 14.5% alcohol, with a sugar residue of 160 g/liter.
4.1/5 on Vivino (no rating for 2022 yet)
Serving Suggestions:
With excellent persistence, this wine is ideal with dry pastries or bitter cacao, but also for relaxing or enjoying with a nice strong cheese. Serve at 14-16 degrees depending on room temperature.
Storage:
It can certainly be stored for another 5 years, but why wait?
Additional Information:
This wine is made from 30% Sangiovese and 70% Montepulciano grapes, combined with cherry syrup from Prunus cerasus. It is produced in the Morro d'Alba wine region (Marche, Italy).
Vicari is a historic family from the town of Morro D'Alba, connected to winemaking for centuries.
A series of fortunate coincidences made it possible to trace an ancestor of the current Vicari family, Francino de Rigo, who was present in Morro at the end of the 15th century, through notarial acts, cadastral records, and various municipal documents preserved in local archives.
This began a long three-year research process, which allowed the Vicari family tree to be reconstructed, eventually leading to the publication of the book "The Vicari - Moments of Country Life in Morro d'Alba - 15th-21st Century," powerfully conveying the family's deep connection with their land and tradition.
The Company Today:
The Vicari agricultural business is a small family-run operation, consisting of Nazzareno and his two children, Vico and Valentina, located in Morro D'Alba.
The Vicari family was known as "those from the good well," because in their district, there was, and still is, a large well from which all the residents of Morro D'Alba drew drinking water.
Today, each bottle and each label tells this story, through the unique script found on all "Del Pozzo Buono" wines and the company logo, which stylizes the ancient form of the historic well.
