Description

This wine is a perfect example of concentration. The nose is truly exquisite: black fruits, pepper, spices, leather, coffee, wood, exotic spices, cocoa. The perfect marriage between power (black licorice) and finesse (violets). The presence of velvety tannins and also the presence of acidity predict a beautiful future. A super beautiful year-end gift, if you ask me, especially because this bottle is best kept for a while. It's a gift to show that you truly appreciate someone. At the bottom of this sheet, you can see the different ratings for this wine. This is a wine that captures the imagination. Belongs to the 100 best red wines in the world. Sorry, only available in limited quantities. Other vintages will follow but are still maturing, contact us for more information.

Serving with:
This wine pairs perfectly with a game dish. Preferably open this wine a few hours before serving. Decanting/carafing this wine, depending on the age of the bottle, is certainly allowed!
Serve at 17°C.

Storage:
Can easily be stored for 20 years or more. Will also improve over the years. This 2016 wine is ready to drink, and I would recommend trying one bottle from, for example, a purchase of 6 bottles, but it's not at its best yet.

Additional information:
This wine is made from vines that are at least 70 years old. The older a vine, the more profound the taste, but the fewer grapes the vine produces. The grapes are naturally harvested and sorted three times for quality. Then a fermentation of 30-40 days, after which the wine moves partly to oak barrels and partly to a stainless steel tank. The wine is aged for 22 months in a wooden vat of 60 hectoliters. The wine is then bottled without being filtered, which allows the wine to age very well but also results in a lot of sediment.
The history of this wine goes back to the year 1891 when the family in the village of Bédarrides passed on a piece of land (Le Crau) to the son Hippolyte. This piece of land was considered the worst piece to cultivate because there are so many stones. There were already some vines growing there that date back to the 14th century. The son did the heavy work at that time to cover the entire piece of land with vines. Good wine was already being made then, although there was little talk of real wine knowledge. Only after the Second World War did the vineyard become internationally recognized with the Vieux Télégraphe wine. To this day, exceptionally high-quality wine is made here.
