Description

Deep red wine from Portugal, from the Bairrada region. A complex wine with aromas of ripe red and black fruits with a floral background. Aging in new barrels gives it a sweet, toasted, smoky, and spicy aroma, combined with a velvety start. Good structure, tannins surrounded by excellent fruit that is noticeable on the palate. Very long and very smooth finish, this is a rustic, intense, and persistent wine. It is available in cases of 6 bottles.

 3.9/5 on Vivino
Serving suggestion:
Delicious with red meat, especially game, but also with strong cheeses due to its velvety tannins. Serve at 16 degrees.

Storage:
This wine can be stored in the cellar for about 9 years. It will evolve, with the fruit maturing towards dried fruit. Note that this wine will develop a sediment after a few years due to its intensity and should be decanted.

Additional information:

Midão warehouse (Régua)Hand-picked grapes placed in small baskets. Wine fermentation with moderate temperature control in stainless steel vats. Aged in new French oak barrels for 12 months. It is unfiltered and not cold stabilized to retain all its natural qualities; therefore, it will develop a natural sediment in the bottle over time, so it should be decanted when aged. Made from Touriga Nacional (60%), Tinta Roriz (20%), and Touriga Franca (20%).
These vineyards come from Quinta de Valle Longo and are planted on levels with different exposures and altitudes.

VALLEGRE - Vinhos do Porto, SA, is a Portuguese company with a centuries-old tradition that has embraced the continuity of a family business for five generations. Shareholders and managers represent the 5th generation of a family of winegrowers from the Douro region. Producer and exporter of Port wines, DOC Douro, and DOC Moscatel do Douro wines of high quality and prestige, it highlights both the expansion and modernization over the years while preserving the ancestral wisdom known from its roots.

The headquarters is located at Quinta da Vista Alegre, in the heart of the world’s oldest demarcated wine region - the Douro demarcated region - and is located in the Cima Corgo sub-region, a few kilometers from Pinhão. A rural space with a captivating and beautiful landscape, thanks to its privileged geographical location, offering visitors a stunning view of the Douro River.

The locations are of immense natural beauty, characterized by points of interest in perfect harmony with nature, etched into memory through the sharpening of the senses, offering unique pleasures of taste for the countryside, landscape, and nature itself.
The history of the vineyards of this farm in wine production goes back well before the 19th century. This conclusion can be drawn from books specialized in stock typologies and some abandoned terraces - the "mortorios."

In the early 1970s, the company transformed from a sole proprietorship into a public limited company, called at the time Sociedade Agrícola Barros SA. In May 1998, the company changed its name to VALLEGRE - Vinhos do Porto, SA, as a result of combining the names of the two main Quintas - Valle Longo and Vista Alegre - while retaining the strong family character present for five generations.
