Description

The bright golden yellow in your glass results in complex and soft aromas of honey, pear, and dried apricots. With an intense sweetness on the palate, yet still fruity and complex, this wine impresses with a light freshness, a very smooth, full-bodied texture, and a long-lasting finish. Only fully ripe grapes (concentrated by botrytis cinerea or noble rot) are harvested through successive sorted bunches.

Serving:
This luscious sweet wine pairs very well with fruit desserts. When enjoyed a bit older, this wine will also delight with foie gras and blue cheeses like Roquefort, Bleu de Bresse, etc. Serve around 8-10°C.

Storage:
This sweet white wine can be stored easily for 20 years. It will become smoother over time.

Additional Information:

Geen fotobeschrijving beschikbaar. The harvest is done manually with successive selections made over 2 to 4 passes on each plot, spread over a period of 5 weeks.
The transformation of the grapes into wine takes place through fermentation in stainless steel vats at a regulated temperature, followed by aging in the same stainless steel tanks for a period of 2 years.
The annual production of Château Mayne du Hayot amounts to 20,000 bottles.

History of the Estate:
The Château du Mayne estate extends over a beautiful property, surrounded by approximately ten hectares of land, seven of which are dedicated to the cultivation of vines, neighboring a park, all situated on deep soil, with a sand and limestone base, dry and very sunny.
The wines from this estate are always distinguished by their great subtlety and seductive power.
It was on this estate that Thérèse de Lamourous, the founder of the Order of Mercy, was born around 1850 and is currently being beatified. Since 1937, Château du Mayne has been owned by the Sanders family, also owners of Château Haut-Bailly (classified Cru in Graves rouge, AOC Pessac-Léognan). Since 1999, it belongs to the Hayot family.

The vines, averaging 35 years old, consist mainly of 90% Sémillon and 10% Sauvignon.
More information about this wine can be found on the wine sheet upon purchase.
