Description

You will discover a beautiful deep red color in your glass. An intense nose dominated by ripe black fruit, licorice, chocolate, and spices. Also present are hints of vanilla and a touch of wood from barrel aging. In the mouth, you will experience an intense and very mouth-filling sensation with flavors of forest fruits, spices, tobacco, leather, and again vanilla. The finish is very soft yet full of character, partly due to aging in new wine barrels. Definitely a discovery!

Serve with:
This wine will pair very well with a juicy piece of meat or game, but it's even better to simply enjoy on its own. It will also complement a cheese platter with semi-hard cheeses. The bottle will surely be empty. Serve at 16 degrees Celsius.

Storage:
This wine is wonderful to drink now, and it can be stored for up to a maximum of 5 to 6 years.

Additional Information:

The special wines of Chemin des Lions are named after the 'Chemins', the paths between the vineyards. The winemaker walks through the vines where he inspects the vineyards and tastes the grapes for optimal ripeness. These vineyards are ideally situated near the 'Golfe du Lion', a bay in the northwest of the Mediterranean with a very important maritime and Mediterranean influence on the vineyards. It brings cool air to this sun-drenched part of France, resulting in wines that are ultimately more refined and elegant. All in all, an ideal (micro-)climate for surprising wines.

A blend of Syrah & Grenache
Syrah | Syrah, often seen as a modern alternative to 'Cabernet Sauvignon', but that would be underestimating Syrah. This grape produces wines with complexity, power, ripe tannins, and dark fruit. Originally from the Northern Rhône, France, nowadays fortunately planted worldwide (often called 'Shiraz'), and also experiencing a revival in the Languedoc. Syrah is very suitable for aging in oak and later in the bottle.

Red Grenache | Grenache, a very old grape variety found in red, gray, and white variations all over the world for many years. 'Grenache Rouge', or 'Garnacha Tinta', has a vine that can become very old while maintaining and often improving production in terms of quality. The wine made from red Grenache is often strong, full of fruit, with some residual sugar or high alcohol content when fermented. Delicious on its own but also the basis for many red blends. This grape can also be used to make beautiful lightly colored Rosé wines! Here, the red Grenache, with a very short maceration, provides a subtle, light, and delicate Rosé.

The territory of Minervois is a huge amphitheater bordered to the south by the Canal du Midi, to the north by the Montagne Noire, and stretching from the heights of Narbonne to the gates of Carcassonne. Here, the vines are mainly planted with Syrah, Mourvèdre, Red Grenache, and Lladoner Pelut. It's mostly red wine that reigns here, and it enjoys great esteem worldwide for its high quality and depth. White wine is also made from Marsanne, Roussanne, Maccabeu, Bourboulenc, Clairette, Grenache, Vermentino, and Muscat.
