Additional information:
The award-winning winery Fabre Montmayou was established in the early 1990s by winemaker Hervé Joyaux Fabre when he moved from his native Bordeaux to Argentina. He was one of the first foreigners to recognize Argentina's potential. The wines of Fabre Montmayou showcase real fruit purity with complexity, freshness, and elegance. All of this is held together by Hervé's unwavering belief in the local terroirs and his determination that all his wines should express these terroirs as elegantly as possible.
Hervé Joyaux Fabre, owner and winemaker of Fabre Montmayou, was born in Bordeaux, France, into a family of wine merchants.
When he came to Argentina in the early 1990s looking for opportunities to invest in vineyards and start a winery, Hervé was impressed by the potential of Malbec in Mendoza.
As a true visionary, he bought very old Malbec vineyards, planted in 1908, and built the Fabre Montmayou winery with real boutique style and essence. Once the winery in Mendoza was established, Hervé decided to buy vineyards and a winery in Rio Negro, Patagonia. He realized that the unique cool climate of this southern region combined with the "terroir" allowed for the creation of great wines that are very different in style from those produced in Mendoza.
His passion and "savoir-faire" did the rest. His partnership with his wife, Diane, also allowed him to produce exceptional wines that have gained international recognition and are enjoyed in more than twenty countries. Hervé makes the wines, meticulous in his approach to ensuring every step of the process is carried out according to his instructions. Diane takes over when the wine is ready to be shipped to customers. She takes care of everything from corks to customers and beyond.
