Description

This wine has a deep ruby-red color like a great Bordeaux wine. In the nose, you will find aromas of blackberries, red and blue berries, licorice, subtle hints of vanilla, and a nice herbal package. The palate has a robust start with a good balance between acidity, soft ripe tannins, and fruit. Give this wine several years in your cellar/storage, and then more scents like leather, vanilla, and coffee will come to the forefront. A long pleasant finish with a woody character that indicates a beautiful aging process. This is not just any Bordeaux but Bordeaux Supérieur Cuvée Prestige. It has been receiving awards for many years.

Serving:
Perfect with hearty dishes based on red meat (beef, juicy lamb). After the necessary bottle aging, it can also be paired with succulent veal, poultry, and spicy vegetables/rice or pasta dishes without meat. For fish lovers: roasted fish with a firm structure, drizzled with olive oil and rubbed with Provençal herbs and coarse sea salt. Roasted lamb shoulder with savory thyme tapenade sauce and spiced roasted pumpkin. Also goes very well with a hearty BBQ. Serve around 16°C.

Storage:
This wine is enjoyed young but can also be stored in the cellar for further aging. Definitely up to 10-15 years is possible.

EXTRA:
This is a hidden top wine for the connoisseurs among you. Most Bordeaux Supérieur wines come from the right bank and not from the left bank where all the major Bordeaux houses are located. Just look at how close Macau, where this wine comes from, is to Margaux. If this wine were made just a few kilometers further in Margaux, you would certainly pay double for this wine.

The current name of Château Tayet dates back to 1994. Before that date, the estate was known as Cru de Noë (property of Raymond's son) and later as Château Les Charmilles. When the owner, Mr. Marc Raymond, also the manager of Haut Breton Larigaudière, decided to retire in 1993, the family took over the management of Les Charmilles. The estate was seven hectares at that time.

The current managers, the SCEA (Société Civile d’Exploitation Agricole) Château Haut Breton Larigaudière, decided to change the name from Les Charmilles to Tayet because there were already several domains in Bordeaux with a similar name. Jacques De Schepper and his general manager, Jean-Michel Garcion, were aware from the beginning of the enormous potential of the new property and did everything to fully exploit this potential. Their goal was to combine the natural concentration and elegance of the wine with the smoothness and finesse it possesses. The estate expanded twice in 1999, and the total planted area reached ten hectares in 2003.

Château Tayet's wine is now bottled at the castle itself, and since 1994, Jean-Michel Garcion has also been making a special cuvée. This wine is aged for about twelve months in oak barrels. Half of these barrels are renewed every year. Numerous connoisseurs have recognized the great success of Château Tayet.
