A typical Bordeaux gem. A semi-intense red wine with a purplish rim. On the nose, aromas of dried and candied fruits, liqueur notes, fine herbs, and a slight woody touch. The palate reveals a soft, almost sweet onset, but above all refined, with a firm, lightly peppery finish with plenty of ripe tannins. The finish is soft with lots of fruit, a hint of dark chocolate, and moderate intensity. Supplied in wooden cases of 12 bottles.
During shipping, the cases are opened to ensure the bottles can be safely shipped. Upon pickup, the wine is delivered in the case (for orders of 12 bottles).
Serve with:
This wine pairs perfectly with game, duck breast, rack of lamb, ribeye, etc. Open this wine approximately an hour and a half before serving. Aerating or decanting this wine is a good idea! Serve at 17°C.
Cellaring:
It is currently ready to drink if you enjoy an intense wine, but it can be cellared until 2030 to give it some more time.
The wine will also continue to evolve, with aromas of toast, cedar, vanilla, mushrooms, ... becoming more prominent.
Additional Information:
Cap d'Or is the second wine of the château, but rather than being second, it is more like the feminine counterpart. This femininity reveals itself in a floral, raspberry touch, freshness, and minerality. The wine is delicate and seductive, with a very subtle oak touch that enhances the fruit and terroir. Historically, the Romans called it Cap Doro in the first century when they decided to clear the south-facing slopes. Excellent exposure to sunlight ensures optimal ripening of the grapes and seeds, forming the basis for a very natural vinification.
Composed of 86% Merlot and 14% Cabernet Franc.
