Description

Beautiful golden wine in your glass. In the nose, you'll smell ginger, lots of dried fruit like clementine, peach, apricot, and other exotic fruits, along with honey and nuts. In the mouth, you'll experience flavors of caramel, honey, and plenty of dried fruit. This wine will give you a soft, full lavender feeling with a gigantic long finish that is very complex.
This top product is 100% made from the Furmint grape. This is a Hungarian grape variety mainly used for producing dry white wines. For this dessert wine, the grapes have ripened on the vines for a long time, allowing the sugars to build up richly. After fermentation in new oak barrels, this liquid gold has further matured for 36 months in old oak barrels.

Serve with:
Serve as an aperitif, with dessert, with foie gras, and even as a companion to game dishes and blue cheeses such as Stilton, Roquefort. After opening, the bottle can be stored in the refrigerator for several weeks.

Storage:
This is ready to drink now but can still be stored for many, not years but decades. This wine will continue to develop in the bottle. In my personal cellar, there are specimens from before 2000 neatly maturing.

Additional Information:
Of all Eastern European countries, Hungary can proudly boast of a truly world-famous wine of the highest quality: Tokaji Aszú, which Louis XIV called "the wine of kings, the king of wines." Similar climatic conditions prevail here as in the Sauternes region in France, but this wine cannot be compared to a Sauternes.

The indigenous grape varieties Furmint and Hárslevelű concentrate their sugar content in the fall through noble rot (botrytis cinerea).
The grapes affected by botrytis are picked one by one and collected in barrels of 25 kg: these are the puttonyos.
A paste is made from them, which is added to the must of 136 liters of base wine of the best quality, already with residual sugar content.

The number of added puttonyos 3 - 4 - 5 or 6 determines the sweetness and the price.
3 putt.: 60 to 90 g/l residual sugar
4 putt.: 90 to 120
5 putt.: 120 to 150
6 putt. > 150 g/l residual sugar
But against the high residual sugar content is the mild acidity. Together, they provide balance and harmony.

This wine has a very lively acidity (11.5 grams per liter) but is perfectly balanced with the 150 grams of residual sugar.

Mysterious Tokaj mountain... seen from above, it rises above the autumn mist, its slopes gleaming with golden vines, and its summit overlooking the vast Hungarian plain to the distant southern horizon. In good weather, you can even see Slovakia and Ukraine. The undisputed king of Hungarian vineyards, Mount Tokaj, is located in the north of the country, 230 km east of Budapest. This legendary place produces exceptional wines, served at the court of Louis XIV; the latter said about Tokaj, it is the "King of Wines and the Wine of Kings."
